The last month of the year calls for celebration, kindness, and connection with loved ones, but it is also an opportunity to show care to those who need help. As part of its New Year's “For a Better Tomorrow” campaign, Slovenia's leading insurance company supported 16 preventive projects across Slovenia this year. Triglav’s North Region helped the Celje Inter-Municipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired and supported the project “A Step Closer to Knowledge: Magnifiers for Courageous Students”, which will significantly improve the quality of life for visually impaired children and adolescents in the local community.
“The festive month of December is a time of joy and hope, a time when we pave the way for new beginnings. At the same time, it reminds us that what we have is not given to everyone. With this in mind and with a mission to create a safer future for all, at the end of the year, the North Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav supported a project run by the Celje Inter-Municipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired. This is our holiday gift to visually impaired children and adolescents in our region, in the hope that the new optical aids will provide them with equal opportunities in their daily lives and open up new opportunities,” said Alenka Novak, director in charge of the North Region at Zavarovalnica Triglav, about this year's “For a Better Tomorrow” preventive campaign.
Better conditions for learning and personal development
The project “A Step Closer to Knowledge: Magnifiers for Courageous Students” focuses on the early provision of optical aids. Equal access to educational content will also contribute to greater self-confidence and the social inclusion of visually impaired students.
“With this project, we will enable our visually impaired students to have easier access to knowledge – the greatest wealth a person can have. For visually impaired people, magnifiers are their eyes: a basic and indispensable tool that enables them to live independently and enjoy a high quality of life. With projects like this, we want to let students and their parents know that they are not alone in facing the challenges of visual impairment and blindness, and that the doors of our association are always open,” said Sanja Kos, President of the Celje Inter-Municipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, upon symbolically receiving funds from the “For a Better Tomorrow” campaign.
Support already extended to more than 290 prevention projects
Zavarovalnica Triglav’s traditional “For a Better Tomorrow” campaign has now been running for 12 years in a row, and has so far supported more than 290 prevention projects in health, education, social assistance, and civil protection, as well as flood and traffic safety. Sixteen projects were carried out this year alone, with a total value of EUR 70,000. Triglav provided support primarily to organisations that care for vulnerable groups, as well as hospitals, schools and firefighters. In fulfilling its mission, the leading Slovenian insurance company works closely with local communities, who are best placed to respond to calls for help and meet their residents’ needs.
