With modern playground equipment, children can play safely and, at the same time, develop motor skills and strengthen their physical and mental health. It features new equipment on a renovated primary school playground in Žužemberk installed by the local council with the help of Zavarovalnica Triglav. The insurer has been supporting the refurbishment and installation of children’s playgrounds for 11 years now as part of its Children of Triglav social responsibility project.
Playgrounds are environment in which the youngest members of society have a chance to play, have fun, and develop motor and social skills. The local council and Slovenia’s largest insurance company have joined forces with the aim of providing children in Žužemberk with those vital experiences. Schoolchildren and other children in Žužemberk, who can now spend their leisure time at the playground, located at the foot of the school, are delighted with the new basketball hoops, football goals, mobile volleyball equipment and climbing wall for younger children.
Waiting 30 years for refurbishment
After a long wait, all local young lovers of sport and recreation can now gather at the playground. Žužemberk’s mayor Jože Papež acknowledged the (excessively) long wait for a new playground: “The school playground at Žužemberk primary school had not been updated for more than 30 years. As our municipality has plans to properly sort out its sports facilities, we were delighted to apply to Zavarovalnica Triglav’s call for applications. We’ve therefore been able to purchase new playground equipment. This has provided schoolchildren and local residents with a new opportunity for sport and recreation. Our sincere thanks go to Zavarovalnica Triglav for this opportunity.”
Children of Triglav and sustainable development
Slovenia’s biggest insurer has been leaving its mark on local communities for decades through its social responsibility campaigns. The Children of Triglav campaign is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, with the development and safe future of children at the forefront. “The refurbishment of children’s playgrounds has grown out of a campaign through which Triglav encourages the healthy use of free time by young children and families, and is the embodiment of its commitment to sustainability. The playground in Žužemberk is the 52nd in the 11 years of a campaign to help renovate and install children’s play areas,” said David Toporš, director of Triglav’s Novo Mesto regional office, who wished the children all the (safe) fun in the world.
