Zavarovalnica Triglav - the controlling company of the Triglav Group

The controlling company of the Triglav Group is Zavarovalnica Triglav, based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Employing its expertise, experience and financial strength, it has provided protection for generations of clients and their property for over 110 years.

Zavarovalnica Triglav is the leading traditional insurance company in Slovenia, holding 37.1% of the market (excluding Modra zavarovalnica and Sklad obrtnikov in podjetnikov): a 47.1% market share in life insurance and a 35.6% market share in non-life insurance. As at the end of 2011, the combined share of Zavarovalnica Triglav and Triglav zdravstvena zavarovalnica totalled 39.8% of the market.

Zavarovalnica Triglav and its subsidiaries offer:

Extensive sales network

Zavarovalnica Triglav has a network of subsidiaries and branches in eight countries. Its registered office and headquarters are in an office building (designed by the architect Jože Plečnik) in Ljubljana, where governance, management, developmental and coordinating functions are performed. A sales network of 12 regional units, 58 representative offices with numerous outlets and 670 insurance agents makes Zavarovalnica Triglav’s services readily accessible throughout Slovenia.
Zavarovalnica Triglav’s own sales network is expanded by insurance agencies and insurance brokerage firms. Agency contracts for selling insurance products are concluded with companies carrying out motor vehicle roadworthiness tests. Moreover, the Company’s range of products and services is also available in banks, post offices, at border crossings, in travel agencies and on the web portal of Zavarovalnica Triglav.

Corporate social responsibility

Social responsibility has been defined as one of the key values and strategic orientations in the new strategy for the 2011–2015 period. Triglav sees it as a foundation of sustainable development; it is built into its strategic goals and the measures for their realisation.

Therefore, much attention is paid to social responsibility and sustainable development in terms of organisation and content, as manifested in:
· active presence and activities in the environment;
· identification of the environment’s needs and adequate responses to them; and
· maintenance of long-term partnerships of mutual benefit and progress.

Harsh economic conditions commit the Triglav Group even more strongly to implementing the principles of sustainable development and of economic, legal, ethical and humanitarian responsibilities.

In 2010, the Code of Good Business Practices of Zavarovalnica Triglav was adopted, laying the ethical foundation for any action, business decisions and relationship building. The Code applies to all employees, who are to follow it as part of their duties and responsibilities.

The year 2011 was the second year in which the Group’s social corporate responsibility was implemented in the framework of its Business Strategy. Moreover, a Social Corporate Responsibility Strategy was adopted in 2011.

Sustainable development reporting features

The starting point and basis for reporting on sustainable development in the Triglav Group and in Zavarovalnica Triglav is the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI G3).

Reputable company

The companies of the Triglav Group have received the following awards and prizes in different areas:
· winner according to the Trusted Brand Survey as most trusted insurance company;
· the Papirus Award for the best internal magazine “Obzornik” in the content and journalistic value categories and 6th place in the graphic design category;
· for the third consecutive time, Zavarovalnica Triglav received the TOP 10 Training Management Award conferred jointly by Planet GV and the SOFOS Institute of Training Management;
· award for the best annual report for 2010 among financial institutions in terms of sustainable development reporting;
· the gold medal in the best of international category for the 2009 annual report and a shortlisting in the best of category at the biggest international annual report competition ARC Awards 2011; and
· “Pazi nase” (Take Care), a multimedia magazine of Zavarovalnica Triglav, was selected for silver recognition by the Digital Magazine Awards 2010 in the category best editorial concept/editor.

 

Quality Management System - ISO

Zavarovalnica Triglav d.d. has an established and certified quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 for the following business operations:
· Development of products covering property, interest in property, life, health, pension, accident and software insurance;
· Providing all classes of property, interest in property, life, health, pension and accident insurance;
· Economic and financial transactions related to the insurance business.


In 2000, Zavarovalnica Triglav was issued an ISO 9001 certificate by the independent institution SIQ (Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology) in Ljubljana as well as an IQNet international certificate. By establishing a quality management system, the company has proved that it has identified its key business processes, that these are being effectively executed and that it focuses on meeting the expectations and demands of stakeholders, i.e. insurance policy holders and business partners. According to the principles of the ISO quality standard, the process approach objectives of each division have to be clearly identified and in compliance with internal and legal regulations, the responsibility of activity holders is regulated and, in the case of deviations, appropriate improvement measures are decided on by management. In any event, company activities are carried out so as to take into consideration the interests of all stakeholders — clients (policy holders), suppliers, management, employees, owners (shareholders) and the environment in which the company operates.


By applying the ISO 9001 standard, the company is able to improve its business process management system and to combine that with the related standard ISO 27001 for its information protection management system. One of the key policies of Zavarovalnica Triglav is to adhere to the principles of business excellence in providing insurance and financial services in Slovenia and to progressively extend this to its subsidiaries within the Triglav Group on foreign markets.
