You too can become Tim Gajser, Janja Garnbret and Aleksej Jurca

Zavarovalnica Triglav competition for gifted young artists, scientists, athletes and para athletes

Dare to join the Young Hopes The Zavarovalnica Triglav Foundation for Social Responsibility, Vse bo v redu (“Everything Will Be Fine”), and Zavarovalnica Triglav insurance company are organising their sixth “Young Hopes” competition, aimed at young talents distinguished by their excellent results, gifts, enthusiasm, vision and focus on the final goal.

Gifted young people aged between 16 and 19 are invited to apply from the fields of sport, para athletics and art, along with young people engaged in science and scientific research aged between 17 and 20. The application process closes on 18 January 2019.

The aim of the project is to help promising young people who have already achieved excellent results in their field but who have not yet become professional – which often means that they are faced with financial challenges. They have not yet received any sponsorship funds, but they need money to purchase better equipment perhaps, or a new instrument, take part in preparations or competitions, study and live abroad, and use additional services such as physiotherapy, massage and so on. All these things are a financial burden that mostly falls on the young person’s family.

The “Vse bo v redu” foundation and Zavarovalnica Triglav have supported five generations of Young Hopes, whose ranks include athletes Tim Gajser, Štefan Hadalin and Janja Garnbret, young artists Maja Horvat, Dorotea Senica and Patricija Crnkovič, and young scientists Aleksej Jurca and Luka Govedič. As part of the competition (“Young people are the guardians of our future”), 62 young talents have already received financial assistance totalling EUR 261,000.

A seven-member expert committee will produce a shortlist from all the applications received in the first round. These finalists will present their stories and their path to future success on a special website: www.mladi-upi.si. The committee will then select the recipients of financial support in the second round. The general public will have a chance to select a recipient of financial support through a voting process. The Young Hopes of 2019 will be revealed in the first half of April 2019.
