A pleasant working environment
From the serene landscapes of Sweden and the vibrant culture of France, life led me to Zavarovalnica Triglav. Just over a year ago, I packed my bags and left my homeland to embark on a new journey at Zavarovalnica Triglav. As a portfolio manager, my initial impressions were shaped by what I'd heard and read about the company online.
Zavarovalnica Triglav's established reputation and its commitment to inclusivity and continuous learning aligned with my career aspirations for growth. At Triglav, I've discovered an exceptionally pleasant working environment. I have excellent colleagues who value collaboration and opportunities for continuous learning: this truly creates a positive and effective workplace. Despite the language challenges I face, Triglav's inclusive atmosphere transforms obstacles into opportunities for growth.
Happily into a new day
Waking up and heading to work is a positive routine for me. I cycle to work every day, which allows me to spend time outdoors even before starting the day. This not only helps reduce my carbon footprint but also positively impacts my health. My colleagues contribute to the positive atmosphere. Besides being outstanding professionals, they are genuinely kind and good individuals who create excellent team dynamics. They embody kindness and goodness, and their collaboration and mutual support mean a great deal to me.
In my opinion, engaging in interesting work is another crucial factor contributing to my well-being at work. Working on various tasks and projects within the financial markets ensures that every day brings new challenges, maintaining a consistently stimulating and engaging work experience.
Everyone can contribute to a pleasant work atmosphere
I believe that creating a pleasant workplace atmosphere is a collective effort. That's why I strive to foster a friendly and supportive climate within our team and take a genuine interest in others. My colleagues and I often meet for coffee. During these informal gatherings, we discuss not only work-related topics but also our free time.
I highly value the opportunity for continuous learning available to us. Zavarovalnica Triglav strongly encourages personal and professional development. The chance to expand my knowledge and skills is something that fulfils me, so I make an effort to share my experiences and insights with colleagues. Recently, I attended a conference where I actively listened and participated in discussions with industry experts focusing on interesting topics related to our work at Triglav. I shared the insights gained with my colleagues. Such networking provides us with new perspectives on established practices, new ways to approach challenges, and contributes to generating new ideas and increasing our collective knowledge.
Triglav: A work environment that supports new ideas
My role as a portfolio manager also significantly contributes to my enjoyment of working at Zavarovalnica Triglav. Managing portfolios involves dynamic tasks like analysing market trends and making strategic investment decisions. The constant challenges and intellectual stimulation make my work genuinely interesting. Being at the forefront of financial trends – this is my desire and professional motivation.
I am convinced that a positive work environment that supports teamwork, creativity and open communication is essential for success. Such an environment, in addition to fostering new ideas and greater productivity, also promotes a sense of belonging and well-being among colleagues. I value the open communication that allows me to exchange ideas and information. Without it, we would struggle to work cohesively and harmoniously, nor would we make appropriate decisions, as these are based on good information.
Like any journey, this one isn't without challenges!
Adjusting to a new life in a new country goes beyond professional changes. Adapting to a new culture, communication norms and language barriers can be challenging. Triglav stands out for its openness and inclusive environment. The company is open to new ideas and new cultures.
When I experience moments of homesickness, being separated from my family and familiar surroundings, I help myself by cooking a Swedish dish – for comfort and to remember home. One of the challenges I face is undoubtedly the language. The distinct sound of "šč" remains a significant pronunciation hurdle for me, and the local practice of shortening words combined with different accents occasionally makes it difficult for me to understand the simplest expressions. Despite mostly using English at work, I feel valued and that I contribute to the collective results in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Balancing sustainability and well-being: My approach to leisure time after work
Recognising the importance of leisure time is crucial for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and I'm pleased that Triglav supports this.
As a very active person, I dedicate my free time to sports and spending time with family. After work, I prefer to recharge with my partner by working out at the gym, playing tennis or swimming. Since my family comes from Sweden and France, I greatly appreciate the moments when I can connect with them. So, I regularly dedicate my free time to video chats, which allow me to stay in touch with my loved ones despite the distance.
I also dedicate time to language courses to adapt and integrate into my new living environment. I believe that knowing the language will not only facilitate smoother communication at work but will also enrich my life by fostering connections, understanding and gratitude for my new home.
