The Triglav Run attracts more than 2,000 visitors

Participants in the 13th Triglav Run covered more than 11,000 kilometres at Brdo pri Kranju

On Saturday, 13 September 2025, more than 2,000 runners and fans contributed to making the 13th Triglav Run a memorable sports and social event at Brdo pri Kranju. Runners of all ages took part in five running challenges in the stunning scenery at the foot of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and in the company of top Slovenian athletes – the Triglav Run Ambassadors. In addition to the traditional routes, an inclusive route for people with various health challenges was organised for the second year in a row, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups. This year, the participants once again ran for a good cause – improving care for newborns.

At the 13th Triglav Run, runners of all ages and fitness levels took to the traditional routes: the half-marathon (21 km), 10 km and 5 km races, the family race and the Kuža Pazi (Willy Watchdog) children’s run. Together they covered more than 11,000 kilometres.

For the second year in a row, the Triglav Run featured an inclusive route of 1,400 m, which participants with physical disabilities or various medical conditions could complete without being timed. Children from the Gold Ribbon Institute (Slov. Inštitut Zlata pentljica) once again joined the event.

More than a competition

Although the Triglav Run attracts exceptional runners with impressive results every year, the event goes beyond competition. “The Triglav Run is not just a test of one’s own endurance or a way to measure yourself against others. It’s an event that blends a passion for sport with a love of nature, and inspires all generations and communities to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Out of care for the most vulnerable in our society, the Triglav Run is both charitable and inclusive. This year, for the second time, people with various disabilities and health conditions were able to complete the inclusive route without being timed. What truly matters is courage, determination and perseverance,” said Marica Makoter, Member of the Management Board of Zavarovalnica Triglav, summing up the spirit of this traditional event.

The Triglav Run is also devoted to helping the most vulnerable members of society, and the Triglav Group has for a number of years passed on the proceeds of the event to healthcare institutions. This year the runners once again supported Slojenčki, an organisation that works towards ensuring good neonatal health, which will give the EUR 10,000 donation to the maternity hospitals in Kranj, Slovenj Gradec and Celje for the purchase of bilirubin meters. These devices are crucial for the early detection of jaundice, a condition common in newborns during their first days of life.

Triglav encourages the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to exercise, as these are important contributors to physical and mental health.

The event also helps fulfil the goals of the Let’s Secure the Future project, thus forming part of the Triglav Group’s sustainable operations. This year, the event organisers again placed particular emphasis on sustainability. Among other things, the runners were served a hot meal of locally produced food, and the organisers and visitors worked together to keep the Brdo pri Kranju estate clean.

In the company of top athletes

Over the years, the event has been supported by many of Slovenia’s top athletes – the Triglav Run Ambassadors. This year, the athletes who ran or cheered others on included Jakov Fak, Cene Prevc, Žan Košir, Rok Marguč and Špela Perše, as well as Nika Vodan, Leja Glojnarič, Viktorija Horvat, Gašper Brecl, Ema Volavšek, Miha Dovžan, Toni Vidmar and Matic Repnik.

Nika Vodan, one of the long-standing Triglav Run Ambassadors, also took to the running trail. “I love being able to support the runners and be part of this wonderful event. This year I ran the 5 km route – it’s varied and quite challenging. It was a great experience for me, and the beautiful weather made it even better,” she said after the run.

The event was brought to life by the lively rhythms of the Bečo & Company band and the performances of the ŠDK Leaders Dance Team, while visitors could also take part in engaging and educational activities. Among other things, children painted scarves – a fashion accessory that also enhances their safety – at a creative workshop organised as part of the Be Bright, Be Safe. initiative. Guests could also try out the simulators featured on the preventive firefighting vehicle and learn how to respond in the event of a fire at home.
