As part of its New Year's campaign "For A Better Tomorrow", Zavarovalnica Triglav's Celje Regional Office has provided funds to the firefighting associations in Slovenske Konjice and Radeče to purchase protective clothing for operational firefighters, and to the firefighting association in Celje to purchase fire hoses, protective gloves and a training defibrillator with dummy. As a result, interventions will now be even more effective in the Celje, Štore, Slovenske Konjice and Radeče areas and prevention work by firefighters will be improved.
In the case of fires, natural disasters and other incidents, firefighters leap into action as quickly as they can. They save lives and protect property and carry a great responsibility. Their job also includes prevention work. In order to work effectively, they need the right equipment. For this reason Zavarovalnica Triglav's Celje Regional Office has provided the firefighting associations in Slovenske Konjice and Radeče with funds to purchase new protective clothing for operational firefighters, and the firefighting association in Celje with funds to purchase equipment for rescue and prevention work.
Overalls for Slovenske Konjice firefighters
The Slovenske Konjice firefighting association, incorporating the Slovenske Konjice, Loče, Draža vas, Žiče, Tepanje, Zbelovo and IC Konus volunteer fire brigades, celebrated its 60th anniversary this year. Its operational firefighters currently need new protective clothing. With the help of Slovenia's largest insurance company, they will now be able to obtain them. "We are happy that Zavarovalnica Triglav recognises the importance of voluntary organisations. Such support is the key to a safer everyday life for the inhabitants of the area where we work," said Slovenske Konjice firefighting association president Stanislav Hlastec at the ceremonial handover of the funds.
New jackets and headgear for Radeče firefighters
In order to fight fires more effectively and protect and rescue people, property, the environment and cultural heritage in the event of natural disasters and other incidents, as well as for general rescue missions, the Radeče firefighting association needs new firefighting jackets, overalls and headgear. "These days, operational firefighters do not only intervene in the case of fire, but also in other incidents. This means that we need various types of equipment. Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to buy this equipment with the funds available. That is why any help we receive means a great deal. We are therefore sincerely grateful to Zavarovalnica Triglav," commented Radeče firefighting association president Rado Mrežar.
Prevention activities by Celje firefighters
The Celje firefighting association celebrated its 60th anniversary this autumn. As well as protecting and rescuing people and protecting property, the firefighting association places a greater emphasis on prevention work with young people, with the aim of preventing as many incidents as possible. "We need a range of equipment for effective interventions and in order to teach young people: new fire hoses, protective gloves and a training defibrillator with a dummy. The funds provided by Zavarovalnica Triglav for the purchase of these items will contribute to the greater safety of people living in the Celje area," said Celje firefighting association president Vincenc Sentočnik.
Skill, courage and the right equipment
At the end of this year Zavarovalnica Triglav is offering help to local communities as part of its New Year's campaign "For A Better Tomorrow". Some of the money that in previous years has been spent on buying New Year's gifts for business partners has been distributed across the whole of Slovenia and will support more than 30 local projects from the coast to the Pomurje region. These include helping firefighting associations buy equipment and assistance with fire prevention activities. "The work done by firefighters is distinguished above all by skill and courage. But without adequate equipment, this is not enough. That is why we have supported the firefighting association in the purchase of equipment that will enable them to provide even more effective protection of citizens and their property," concluded Aleksander Troha, the director of Zavarovalnica Triglav's Celje Regional Office.
Firefighters supported last year too
Numerous positive stories from various parts of Slovenia were also a feature of the end of last year, when Zavarovalnica Triglav supported 22 projects in various fields as part of the "For A Better Tomorrow" campaign. The Celje Regional Office supported the Šentjur firefighting association in the purchase of safety trousers and helmets for firefighters working with chainsaws, the Laško firefighting association in the purchase of neoprene boots and protective waders, and the Šmarje pri Jelšah firefighting association in the purchase of protective firefighting equipment and the provision of flood safety training for its members.
This year's campaign will see Zavarovalnica Triglav provide funds to firefighters, civil protection services, healthcare and road safety for children. The aim is to contribute to raising awareness and to reducing danger and potential accidents. In this way Zavarovalnica Triglav will once again demonstrate its sense of social responsibility and strengthen its traditionally good cooperation with the local environment. For a better tomorrow.
