Kuža Pazi and footballers on the way to school

Zavarovalnica Triglav launches the preventive Walking to School Safely campaign with support from sports role models

With the summer holidays ending and new school year beginning, many children are returning to the roads – among them first-graders experiencing traffic on their own for the first time. To ensure their safe journey to school, Zavarovalnica Triglav is once again running its preventive campaign Walking to School Safely with Kuža Pazi from 1 to 5 September 2025. This year, the beloved mascot will once again help children safely cross roads in front of more than 40 primary schools across Slovenia.

Kuža Pazi will visit 43 schools in six regions, showing children how to cross roads safely and behave responsibly in traffic. At some schools, a storyteller will hold an educational fairy-tale hour to teach children about wearing yellow neckerchiefs, staying alert and acting responsibly. To further increase safety, warning stickers will be placed on pedestrian crossings, and first-graders will receive yellow scarves to improve their visibility. In total, Slovenia's largest insurance company will distribute more than 20,000 such neckerchiefs.

This year, Kuža Pazi will be joined by special guests – representatives of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS), also sponsored by Zavarovalnica Triglav. Slovenian footballers will accompany children at crossings, walk them to school and encourage them to live safely, actively and healthily.

The first days of school bring excitement and new friendships, but also some uncertainty and worry. However, with a yellow neckerchief, Kuža Pazi and sports heroes by their side, the journey to school becomes an adventure for children, one that’s safe, confident and inspiring. May the school year begin with a smile and a safe step,” said Tjaša Kolenc Filipčič, Executive Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications, and Customer Experience at Zavarovalnica Triglav, wishing all schoolchildren a safe journey.

Athletes are excellent role models for children. Their participation in the campaign is valuable not only for greater visibility, but also because they encourage children to stay active, act responsibly and embrace positive values,” emphasised Zavarovalnica Triglav, a long-standing supporter of Slovenian sports and sponsor of many leading athletes, clubs, associations and other sports organisations.

For many years, Zavarovalnica Triglav has actively promoted road safety through preventive initiatives, driver awareness campaigns and support for local communities. At the start of the school year, when traffic around schools increases, it’s everyone’s responsibility to drive carefully, patiently and attentively.
