New additions for a safer tomorrow for children in Štajerska

As part of its New Year prevention campaign, Zavarovalnica Triglav helps the primary schools in Destrnik – Trnovska Vas and Ormož

With the “For a Better Tomorrow” New Year campaign, Zavarovalnica Triglav is fulfilling its mission of creating a safer future by allocating a portion of funds at the end of the year to support various prevention projects nationwide. The support of Slovenia’s largest insurance company delighted the Osnovna šola Destrnik – Trnovska Vas primary school, where the school gym will be furnished with new rubber mats, while special protective covers will be set up in the children’s playground next to the Osnovna šola Ormož primary school.

Children’s safety is again the common thread of the latest “For a Better Tomorrow” New Year campaign in the Štajerska region. “Zavarovalnica Triglav’s mission is to create a safer future for all generations. At Triglav we appreciate that children are our future, which is why we endeavour, through our many prevention-related activities, to secure a better and safer future for them,“ Uroš Skuhala, Director of the Maribor regional office of Zavarovalnica Triglav, elaborated on the purpose of this year’s campaign.

The children’s (sports) games will be made even safer thanks to the new rubber mats set up in the gym of the Osnovna šola Destrnik – Trnovska Vas primary school, which is attended by more than 300 children and is open to other visitors in the afternoons. “The school gym is used to implement the primary school and kindergarten curricula and for afternoon activities,“ explained the school’s headmaster, Drago Skurjeni.

Protecting children is also the main focus of the campaign at the Osnovna šola Ormož primary school, where special protective covers will be installed on sandpits in order to protect the children from the sun and also for hygienic protection. “The protective covers have two purposes. Mainly, they serve to protect the children from the sun, but at the same time, they will be used to cover the sandpit and keep animals out. This will prevent any diseases caused by animal faeces,“ said headmaster Aleksander Šterman.

For a Better Tomorrow – Eight years and more than 200 projects
Slovenia’s largest insurer has been running their “For a Better Tomorrow” New Year prevention campaign for eight years now. In the last seven years, Zavarovalnica Triglav supported more than 180 prevention projects nationwide, with a further 25 receiving support this year, making a total of more than 200. In recent years, the company has co-financed the purchase of defibrillators, ultrasound and ECG machines, and other life-saving medical devices, supported a large number of other projects in the fields of healthcare, civil protection, flood mitigation and road safety, and helped numerous fire brigades around the country.

This year, for example, Triglav helped purchase medical equipment (defibrillators, folding wheelchairs, aids for the blind and visually impaired, a swing for mobility impaired persons, an ultrasound machine, and aids for physiotherapy, among others), (co-)financed equipment and the necessary training to support voluntary fire brigades and civil protection units (fire engines, various pieces of equipment for easier interventions at scenes of accidents and medical treatment/removal of injured persons, personal equipment for firefighters, technical equipment for the functioning of organisations, and education courses for first responders, among others), and contributed funds for the implementation of other activities that benefit local communities (for example counselling service for pupils and parents and equipment for safer development of children’s motor skills).
