Ljubljana, 11 April 2013 – Yesterday in Brussels Zavarovalnica Triglav’s “Let’s Clean the Mountains and Hills” project, run successfully since 2010, received the international EMErald Award recognising the highest communication standards in Europe, Middle East and North Africa. In addition, Studio Kernel’s “New Dimensions” project - designed for the Triglav Group Annual Report 2011 and commissioned by Zavarovalnica - was awarded in the multi-audience category.
Zavarovalnica Triglav is one of the six Slovene winners of the
EMErald Excellence 2013 award, presented by the regional section of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The all-Slovene “Let’s Clean the Mountains and Hills” environmental drive, entering its fourth season in 2013, gained the second consecutive award for excellence in communications among contenders from Europe, Middle East and North Africa in the social media category. In the previous season,
“Let’s Clean the Mountains and Hills” further strengthened its presence on social networks with their number of Facebook fans growing by one third compared to 2011. Through the “Fill your Backpack" Facebook application – designed to raise awareness about suitable hiking equipment – the page attracted record 1,986 additional new fans or almost 100% more than targeted. The “Fill your Backpack" app allowed users to choose hiking-appropriate items to fill their backpacks. By selecting 10 items they qualified for a drawing to win one of 10 prizes: hiking poles or a backpack. Each of almost 3,000 users on average filled two and a half backpacks.
“The prestigious award represents both: a new challenge and an encouragement for even bigger achievements and higher goals, as well as the confirmation that Triglav is on the right track. Through integrated management of social and web media, we want to implement our corporate social responsibility and further expand the Facebook community of active fans and supporters of mountain environmental protection. The Facebook page “Let’s Clean the Mountains and Hills” persists as the largest online community in Slovenia gathered around mountain protection and the largest web community started by a corporate social responsibility initiative in the country. The web community will remain the driving force of the campaign in the future. Unspoiled nature is one of the foundations for a safer future. The award for the annual report – our key corporate communication tool – shows that we are on the right track in communication. The report is no longer available to just a circle of users more or less equalling the number of paper copies, but its outreach is substantially larger,” said Urša Manček, Deputy President of the Management Board, who received the award at a ceremony in Brussels.
